I was referring to the Declaration of Independence, which talks about rights granted by a creator. I didn't say Christianity. My point was that the moral framework that modern civilisation rests upon is that we are all equal under God. Whatever you understand God to be. The problem, which doesn't necessarily have to be solved in a spiritual way, that's just the way that works for me, is that when you remove that framework what are you left with? Currently, it seems to be an a-moral every man for himself philosophy. Without the spiritual component, without understanding that we are a fragment of the whole we seem to descend into rampant selfish egoism. If people want to find humanistic solutions to that then great but it doesn't seem to be working right now.
